What is Digital Universe Zine?
The Digital Universe Zine will be a collaborative visual art project inspired by the cultural landscape of the online space, especially in an age where the internet is beginning to rapidly corrode and become less ideal in its usage. (I.e., Meta's policies regarding the free usage of anyones images for generative AI, and a hyperdrive in short-form video based content that may not have actual artistic soul or purpose.) The idea is to form artistic community working alongside other internet artists to create a represenation of artistic internet energy.
The new deadline to apply is June 1st 2025, and this zine project will be more of a summer project to get together the voices of online artists and create a new sense of community without the restraints of social media. This is a project being hosted by Frances ☮︎ Exe (Vemrill).
The main requirement to join this project is that you must have some semblanceof understanding of how online art culture works and have at least some passion for online community and culture!
Digital Universe is PRO pirating, using free-use images, open source inspiration and copyright collaging. Always have fun on the web!
Experimental art is fully encouraged. Digital drawings, screenshots, collage art, 3D models, video game screencaps, chatroom conversation, lyrics, or references to YouTube/video media are welcome.All artists must be 18+ to participate.
